Sealants Can Help Prevent Decay
All molars naturally have deep grooves on the chewing surface when the teeth erupt into the mouth. Oftentimes, sealants are recommended to fill in those grooves to make it easier for the patient to keep those teeth clean. Sealants are a white or tooth shaded material that is bonded to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, sealing off the deep grooves and pits. This makes the grooves of the teeth smoother so your toothbrush can more easily keep the tooth clean.
What age are sealants done?
Each child is a little different, and it depends on when the 6 year and 12 year permanent molars have completely erupted into the mouth.
